Soccer is perhaps the most popular ball game that is played everywhere, in schools, in large stadiums and by everyone, both rich and poor, black and white. In America it has become the second most popular youth sport because of the simplicity and ease of enjoyment. More than 6,000,000 children play the game regularly.
However the question who invented soccer will probably never get an accurate answer in many parts of the world the game has been worshiped sometimes even like a religion. Soccer is a more principles-based game. There are fewer rules, and the referee is given far more authority than officials in most American sports to interpret them and to shape game play and outcomes.
Soccer is the only sport in the world that needs next to nothing to play. All you need is a ball and, in some cases, not even that. The game is like a passion for millions all over the globe. In Europe and South America it is the number 1 sport. In North America soccer ranks behind baseball, basketball, hockey and football. A soccer player needs to develop his technical abilities but he also requires strength. That way he will be faster and able to keep the ball in his team. In other words the right combination of power and technique will put him ahead of others.
